Wining and Dining: Patricia Weinsheimer, Innkeeper

My credo; when you come to OTB we will provide you with a celebration of all the Scenic Central Coast has to offer - something you’re not going to get at home.

OTB Breakfasts: we believe that good enough, isn't. When you have our breakfasts we want acclaim, not mere adequacy. To that end we want our guests to be sated by proportions as well as their palates. Some of our guests favorites: lemon ricotta pancakes, crème brulee' French toast, OTB Wave pancakes, breakfast burritos, Greek strata and tomato pie (in season). Our gourmet sausages are made locally and receive constant raves. Our bacon seems to require seconds, and ahhs of approval. I take a lot of time to choose our menus; i'’s worth it to hear our guest's sighs of contentment. One guest called our breakfast: "gourmet comfort food." It doesn't get any better than that.

Evening Gathering: I leave it to other places to serve ordinary cheeses, the old standby of cream cheese topped with some bottle of something or other and wines selected for affordability and safety. I am fierce in my determination to make every guest's stay here extraordinary; providing them with the best of our local treasures; local sausage, local cheese merchant, and most specifically the gold of our neighbors; the award winning wineries. Our cheeses come from Italy, France, Spain, and yes, San Luis Obispo. Not found at your local grocer, nor discount warehouse. We have something for everyone to sample, even the local brew; Cayucos Ale. A sampling of our guests favorite OTB appetizers: tenderloin cubes topped w/ Spanish bleu cheese, homemade parmesan-rosemary crackers, blueberry stilton, and tequila shrimp OTB.

Wine and Waves program: Every month I select a different, local award winning winery to serve at our Evening Gathering. I have a strict criteria part of which is not serving the traditional reds and whites. I ask each winemaker to offer what reflects their best. Sometimes they provide us with wine not served in their tasting rooms. Often, on busy weekends, the winemaker will have a tasting in our lobby. All of our selected wineries offer our guests a free tasting at their tasting rooms and many offer a discount. See our Wine & Waves header to get a list of our featured wineries.

FOODIE ALERT: Innkeepers Picks

Hoppe’s Garden Bistro.
It only adds the allure of Cayucos to have in our funky little beach town a Five-star, gourmet restaurant, included with our more casual dining.

In 2007 Wilhelm Hoppe won Iron Chef America for the Central Coast.
Closed Mon. & Tues.

Papillon & The Cass House
In May of ’08 we will be lucky enough to add the chef from Papillon’s of Los Osos

Each within half a block of OTB, a short stroll for our guests to experience gourmet dining. Going from gourmet to more casual; Cayucos offers a myriad of choices, again, all within walking distance.

Duckies
From chowder to hot dogs to fish and chips and great salads; all can be enjoyed while the breezes off the sea come through their windows overlooking the beach and pier.
Across the street from OTB.

The Little Market:
Wow! Amazing sandwiches and delicacies, half a block away.
Closed Monday.

Schooner’s Wharf:
A locals favorite place to have drinks w/ friends upstairs overlooking the sea. Add to that their yummy fare (gourmet burgers to prime rib) and I’ve been told the best calamari ever! Relaxing, casual and fun!
Next door to OTB.

The Sea Shanty:
this is the place to go if you must catch fresh, fabulous fish!
This is the farthest, about 4 blocks away.
